Jersey City, New Jersey’s 2nd biggest city, is booming.
After years of redevelopment and building and construction, realty values are escalating and also new office and domestic towers are climbing in previous downtrodden abrasive locations of the city. Why does the city proceed to grant tax breaks to designers? And why are New Jersey taxpayers billed for hundreds of millions of dollars to run the city’s institutions while developers are adding virtually nothing?
To check out the issue, Brian visited midtown Jersey City on a Citi Bike and also participated in a City Council conference where outraged Jersey City taxpayers threw an ironical surprise event– complete with party hats, balloons and cake– for Mayor Stephen Fulop as he provided the 70th tax obligation abatement of his term.
