In January of 2016, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio revealed his plan for the Brooklyn-Queens Connector (BQX), a streetcar that would run a 16-mile beachfront path from Astoria, Queens to Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The announcement showed up with a public relations project that declares the BQX as a transportation alternative that would, amongst other things, offer the low-income communities along the hallway.
