In January of 2016, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio revealed his plan for the Brooklyn-Queens Connector (BQX), a streetcar that would run a 16-mile beachfront path from Astoria, Queens to Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The announcement showed up with a public relations project that declares the BQX as a transportation alternative that would, amongst other things, offer the low-income communities along the hallway. A closer appearance at that is pushing the strategy and how it will certainly be funded reveals that the BQX relies upon the displacement of the areas they are presently attempting to sell it to.
